Do you prefer to observe the animals in a different way than from horseback?
Even guests who do not ride have a fantastic experience at OHS – mokoro trips, speedboat excursions, game drives and guided walks – there is an opportunity to experience it all here. Non-riders meet up with the riders for picnic lunches, afternoon activities, bush dinners, fly camps and overnight stays under the open sky, so if you are travelling as a mixed group you still spend plenty of time together.
Accommodation
Accommodation during the safari is mainly Kujwana Camp, an exclusive tented camp beautifully located on the Xudum River. Here, authentic bush atmosphere is combined with high comfort – guests stay in spacious tents with ensuite bathrooms and can enjoy a pool, wooden decks, and Wi-Fi. The views over the floodplain often reveal a variety of passing wildlife, ensuring you are always surrounded by nature. On request, and at an additional cost, you may also book one of the two spacious Riverside Suites, both offering spectacular views over the river. During the safari, a stay at the so-called fly camp is also possible (see further below), providing a more secluded wilderness experience.
Kujwana Camp (standard accommodation)
Riverside Suites
Fly Camp
With outstanding comfort and private bathrooms, the standard tents, built on fixed canvas structures, offer everything you need to enjoy an authentic safari experience. The tents are nestled within the camp’s groves, where you are constantly surrounded by the wonderful songs of birdlife. Expect visits from vervet monkeys and perhaps even a morning wake-up by an elephant quietly feeding on marula fruit along the riverbank. With both double and twin tents, we can accommodate groups of all sizes.

Programme, Kujwana Delta Ride
The itinerary serves as a guideline. Changes may occur due to the movement of game, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances. Any adjustments made will always be with the safety and best interests of the safari experience in mind.
Day 1
You will be met at Maun Airport for onward transfer, either approximately 20 minutes by helicopter directly to Kujwana Camp, or by light aircraft to the nearest airstrip followed by roughly a one-hour transfer by car or boat (depending on water levels). Upon arrival, you will have time to settle into your spacious tents before lunch or afternoon tea, along with an introduction. This is followed by an introductory horseback ride of approximately 1.5–2 hours. Dinner is served with the guides and other guests in the camp’s raised dining area.
Day 2
You are woken early in the morning with tea or coffee served at your tent, to enjoy while listening to the sounds of the bush. After breakfast, a morning ride awaits in the Xudum area, where you ride through lush green wetlands (molapos) that lead you between islands. Here, you may surprise a shy reedbuck in dense vegetation or witness herds of elephants, buffalo and zebra moving across the open plains. Back to camp for lunch, followed by a siesta or a dip in the pool. In the afternoon, you head out on a peaceful mokoro trip along the river, experiencing the delta’s tranquillity from traditional canoes. Enjoy the colours as the sun slowly sets over the horizon.
Day 3
A full-day ride from Kujwana Camp of around 30 km towards fly camp. The route passes through open floodplains and scattered islands towards the Qwaapu river system, where you will encounter abundant wildlife. A picnic lunch is served on a shaded island, followed by a rest in camp beds, the chance for a dip, and then a further approximately two hours of riding in the afternoon. You arrive at fly camp at sunset and enjoy a refreshing drink while looking out over the vast plains. Here you stay in comfortable tents with proper beds, hot showers in private bathrooms, and a shared tent with sofas and a library. Fall asleep to the sound of the horses eating their hay outside.
Day 4
To give the horses a rest, the morning is spent on a game drive, combined with a bush walk and tracking. It is an excellent opportunity to look for predators, including the endangered African wild dog, as well as the many leopards found in the area. Lunch and a siesta may be followed by activities in camp before an afternoon ride on the eastern side of the concession. The ride passes through varied landscapes and crosses several river channels where hippos are present, in a truly remote area.
Day 5
A full-day ride back to camp with a picnic at a new location, where you complete the route you began two days earlier. There is an opportunity to swim with the horses back to Kujwana Camp if water levels permit. A final dinner in the evening, with many safari memories to share.
Day 6
Early morning ride (depending on flight times), followed by brunch and farewells – until next time.

Day 3
A full-day ride from Kujwana Camp of around 30 km towards fly camp.
