"I am so excited about this trip! It's no secret that I love animals, but having the opportunity to see wild animals from the back of a four-legged friend feels like an unbeatable combination. I have long dreamed of going out and seeing the world, and Africa's nature seems very tempting. I can’t wait for the days to pass!"

— Kajsa Björe

Despite her young age, Kajsa Björe is a well-known name in the Swedish show jumping and equestrian world. At her establishment just outside Eskilstuna, she works with training and sale of horses alongside an active competition career – among her achievements are international placements, Swedish Championship gold for Young Riders, victories up to 1.50m, and wins in two finals of the ATG Riders League.

In 2025, Kajsa and Africa by Horse will start a partnership with the goal of making horseback safari better known to the Scandinavian equestrian audience, with a collaboration based on curiosity, a desire for discovery, and a longing to experience riding in a new, magical environment.

In February, we are travelling together to South Africa and Botswana for an African Explorer – an iconic riding safari that combines riding in magnificent and varied landscapes, close encounters with wildlife, and authentic bush accommodations. Before, during, and after the trip, we'll share the experience and provide an intimate insight into how horseback safaris works in practice: from horses and safety to everyday life in the bush and the feeling of travelling through the African landscape on horseback.

Through this collaboration, we aim to lower the threshold for an experience that is still relatively unknown to many Swedish riders, but which for the majority becomes much more than just a regular riding trip...

Voice of a Donkey

In many parts of Zimbabwe, donkeys live under difficult conditions. They are absolutely essential as working and transport animals but rarely receive the care they need. Overworked, undernourished, and poorly tended, they often fall ill – not out of neglect or unwillingness, but due to a lack of knowledge among their owners and limited access to resources.

Voice of a Donkey works to change that. The organisation helps people in rural areas care for their donkeys through education, basic veterinary support, and practical assistance. They teach proper hoof care, how to treat wounds, balance teeth, and provide adequate nutrition – all to improve both animal welfare and people’s livelihoods.

Behind the initiative are Kate White-Spunner and Will Venter. Kate worked for 15 years as a donkey welfare advisor with the Irish Donkey Sanctuary before returning home to Zimbabwe to found Voice of a Donkey. She is passionate about education and about helping people understand the value of animals. Will is a farrier, equine dentist, and riding instructor – with a particular love for donkeys, which he describes as the most patient and trusting animals one can work with.

During our travels in Africa, we’ve had the privilege of meeting Will and Kate, and we know that the work they do for donkeys is truly invaluable. We support Voice of a Donkey through donations and by sharing their important mission. Here’s how you can help:
