Laikipia is one of Kenya's most unique and biodiverse safari areas. An impressive variety of wildlife lives here – from the classic Big Five to several rare and endemic species. The area is known, among other things, as the last stronghold for Jackson's hartebeest and also hosts species such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. The vast landscapes contain the greatest diversity of large mammals in Kenya. Thanks to large, contiguous natural areas and open wildlife corridors, the animals can move freely along their natural migratory routes, creating a genuine and wild safari experience. Laikipia is also one of the few areas in Kenya where both white and black rhinos still occur. The combination of rich wildlife, varied landscapes and strong conservation efforts makes the area one of the country's most exclusive safari destinations. In addition to the spectacular wildlife, Laikipia is also home to the Samburu and Maasai people, whose culture remains a living part of the landscape. There are great opportunities to experience nature at close quarters here through activities such as walking safaris, camel safaris, fly camping under the stars and, not least, horse riding safaris.
