From the arena to the savannah: Kajsa Björe’s next adventure
One of all the hopes and dreams I have with Africa by Horse is to get more horse lovers, riding enthusiasts, and adventurers to discover the concept of riding safaris. I write this because it is almost impossible to convey the feeling in text. It must be experienced.
At the end of February, we leave the winter in Sweden and head once again towards open landscapes and many long hours in the saddle to travel through the African bush on horseback. The riding safari African Explorer takes us on three nights in the Waterberg's characteristic landscape in South Africa and four nights through Botswana's deep wilderness. We stay in tented camps, beautiful lodges, on a plateau high among the large Mashatu trees, and in thatched huts surrounded by mighty leadwood trunks. On horseback, we travel from camp to camp, in close company with the wild animals of the bush.
This time, we are bringing Kajsa Björe, who is making her very first, real horseback holiday with us. Established and successful show jumper that she is, she is used to tough courses, high jumps, and large audiences. But riding safari – this will be something entirely new:
"I am so, so excited about this trip! That I love animals is no secret, but having the opportunity to see wild animals from the back of a four-legged friend feels like an unbeatable combination. I have long dreamed of going out and seeing the world, and Africa's nature feels very tempting. I am counting down the days impatiently!"
For many riders, riding safaris are still relatively unknown – something one may have heard of, but cannot quite imagine. I hope that this trip together with Kajsa, and her reach in horse Sweden, can be the starting shot that truly changes that.
We will be in touch from the savannah.
